The General Dynamics Stryker is arguably one of the best and most reliable medium armored vehicles in use. Originally, based on the initial order volumes, it was designed with all fabricated parts. When General Dynamics began to see repeating orders for the Stryker, they reached out to suppliers to discover how they could help remove cost from the vehicle.

Solution

Barron Industries worked hand in hand with General Dynamics to review the Stryker from top to bottom by reviewing all the fabricated parts. General Dynamics and Barron Industries mutually agreed on what fabrications could be made as castings, and the two companies began converting and designing fabrications as castings. Over time, Barron’s engineers worked with General Dynamics engineers to convert over 150 fabrications to castings on the LAV and Stryker vehicles…everything from hatches, to latches and handles, exhaust elbows…

So, today, Barron, casts, heat treats, non-destructive tests,
CNC machines, purchases additional components, CARC paints and provides General Dynamics with highly repeatable, lower cost complete assemblies for the Stryker.
